In this paper the most exciting and controversial aspects of work on
cosmic γ-rays and cosmic nuclei above 1 TeV are described and
evaluated. The prospect that γ-ray astronomy above 1 TeV will give
new insights into high energy cosmic ray origin within our galaxy is
particularly bright.
