The dynamics of the magnetospheric energy parameter epsilon is analyzed on the basis of data on solar-wind parameters, the interplanetary magnetic field, and geomagnetic disturbances for 1967-1974. The integral coupling energy calculated on the basis of individual Bartels revolutions points to its variability in the course of the solar cycle. The role of the negative sector is found to predominate during the transport of solar-wind energy into the magnetosphere, which suggests the existence of an asymmetry of IMF sectors with respect to energetics. In addition, an assessment of the magnetospheric response according to Kp and Dst indexes discloses that magnetospheric disturbance reaches a maximum level when polarity of the IMF is negative.
