Evolution equations are derived for the three-dimensional translational-rotational motion of a deformable body with energy dissipation in a central Newtonian force field; this formulation is pertinent to the study of spacecraft motion under the effect of tidal forces. The equations are expressed in canonical variables, and contain terms representing planetary tidal forces. The nonresonant case is considered.
