The main problem in satellite theory restricted to the polar plane is considered. For suitable values of the energy the system has two unstable periodic orbits. The trajectories are classified in terms of their ultimate behavior with respect to these periodic orbits in oscillating, asymptotic, and capture orbits. The energy-level set and the existence and properties of these types of motion are studied.
