The goal of this work is to provide a useful equation of state for mixtures of molecular hydrogen and helium which reproduces the available experimental data and provides a reasonable extrapolation to higher densities and pressures. The overall approach is to use experimentally determined intermolecular potentials in Monte Carlo simulations of various mixtures of hydrogen and helium at densities and temperatures relevant to Jovian and Saturnian interiors. The authors discuss the details of the Monte Carlo technique employed, the fitting formula and derived equation of state, the application to the hydrogen phase transition problem, and the application to interior models.
