Brightness asymmetry in the accretion disks of cataclysmic variables are discussed. In several cataclysmic variables, the phase of superior conjunction as determined by radial velocity measurements is later than conjunctions determined by eclipse timings and/or the phase of inferior conjunction from the absorption lines of secondaries. These shifts are explained as a result of the gas stream from secondary penetrating deeply in the disk and causing asymmetries in the distribution of emission.
