The EXOSAT observations of the AM-Her System EF Eri which cover over 3 cycles of the 81 min binary period are presented. It is shown that the EXOSAT observations require a specific polecap geometry to explain the hard X-ray light curve. Geometrical constraints from polarization data are only consistent with interpretations of the origin of the hard X-ray light curve for polecap sizes f = 0.01, somewhat larger than usually assumed for polars. The soft X-ray light curve arises in a similar manner but its structure is dominated by phase dependent absorption which arises in the accretion flow close to the polecap. The prominent dip occurring at phase 0.45 in soft and hard X-ray light curves is probably due to obscuration by the accretion stream at large distances from the white dwarf. The occurrence of this dip before phase 0.5 indicates that the gas stream does not follow the field lines all the way from the L1 point to the white dwarf.
