In the regrettable absence of instrumentation capable of directly detecting gas motions, cold fronts are our primary tool to study the dynamics of cool cores. To make the most of cold fronts it is necessary to characterize their properties to the best of our observational abilities. While Chandra certainly provides the sharpest measurements of surface brightness discontinuities, the measurement of the associated temperature and even more so metal abundance profiles requires spectra rich in photons, more easily obtained with XMM-Newton. We have recently undertaken a program to characterize all cold fronts in a flux limited sample of nearby cool core clusters. Here we propose observations of 3 cool cores with cold fronts currently lacking high quality data.
