We propose to detect and characterize the hot ISM and ULXs in the ``interaction zone'' of the ``taffy'' galaxies, and investigate the connection between ULXs and star formation. Our multiwavelength data imply hot gas of 10^7~K in the taffy bridge and XMM-Newton is ideal to detect the extended hot ISM produced by the inelastic high-speed collision of cold ISM. Detailed X-ray imaging/spectroscopy also help constrain the collision parameters and starburst models. Only then can one better address what role of the hot ISM plays in overlap starburst, how different ISM phases interplay, and why the starburst feedback is so important to the formation and evolution of galaxies.
