A. HAAS deduces the equation: ν = l.1 × 10-49 M, where ν represents `cosmical velocity' and M the mass of the universe.1 Taking M = l.8 × l057 gm. he obtains ν = 2000 km. per second and then says: ``This value agrees well with the magnitude of the velocity with which the farthest spiral nebulæ appear to recede from us''.
