The deviation equations for paths and geodesics in a hypercomplex algebraically extended theory of gravity [known in the literature as the nonsymmetric gravitational theory (NGT)] are derived. It is shown for both deviation equations in the weak-field limit that only quadrupole modes of gravitational radiation may be detected by an observer in free fall.
