The problem of the motion and electromagnetic field in a rotating polytropic spherical star is considered, and it is shown that, in the case of Hphi not equal to zero, it is possible to obtain an even set of solutions. In this case, differential rotation can occur within the star but that its surface undergoes rigid-body rotation. Also considered is the case of Hphi = 0, where differential rotation of the star surface can occur. It is concluded that this rotation is unexplainable within the framework of the polytropic approximation.
