The set of solar wind conditions that lead to a quiet magnetosphere when 'quiet' is determined by magnetic indices is investigated. For quiet times, the solar wind velocity, the IMF magnitude, and the z component of the IMF show distinctive variations from average values. Baseline conditions are found by independently varying these parameters and the length of time the conditions must persist to minimize the am index.
