On the basis of the observed secular variations in the Earth's rotation and its principal moments of inertia, a rough estimate of the amplitudes and periods of the Earth's precession-nutation motions during the last 106years has been carried out. It is assumed that the volume as well as the total mass of the Earth have been preserved during the period given. The Earth's polar flattening might be larger in the past as well as the departures from the hydrostatic equilibrium state.
