Attention is given to the motion of a satellite in a model gravity field whose potential admits a closed-form solution and has the form V = W + Delta V2n (n = 2, 3, 4, . . .), where W is the force function of the symmetric variant of the generalized problem of two fixed centers and Delta V2n is an expression approximating the even zonal harmonic (order 2n) of Delta U2n from the set of terms of the real gravity potential not included in W. Expressions are derived which determine the class of intermediate orbits which rigorously take into account all the perturbations from the second zonal harmonic and also allow for the secular and partially periodic second-order perturbations relative to J2 from an arbitrary even zonal harmonic with coefficient J2n, n not less than 2.
