The variability of solar spectrum lines in the visible wavelengths during solar cycle 21 is examined. Full disk measurements of the photospheric and chromospheric lines are analyzed. The variation in granular convection at the sun's surface is studied. It is observed for the chromospheric lines that increases and decreases in line flux for Ca II K correspond to the solar activity. The data for the photospheric lines reveal that only low-excitation lines of neutral metals display short-term variability.
