Riometer absorption measured at Narssarssuaq, Greenland, is taken as an over-all indicator for energetic particle fluxes associated with PCA or auroral activity. It is compared to A3 absorption at mid-latitudes for both the intense solar particle event of August 1972 and the period from late 1974 to early 1976. Significant correlations are derived which appear to vary with season and latitude and are generally found as delayed effects
