The results of multifrequency observations of Mrk421 and Mrk501 during TeV γ-ray flares are presented. Flares on timescales of days were observed from each of these sources. In both cases, the X-ray and the γ-ray flux varied together. At lower energies the flare amplitude was much less. For observations of Mrk421 in April 1995 the extreme ultraviolet and optical flares lagged the γ-ray and X-ray flares by ~1 day. In May 1996, two very intense intra-day flares were observed at TeV energies during a period of increased X-ray and optical activity. The importance of these observations within the context of non-thermal emission models of AGN is discussed.
