We re-examine free oscillations of an Earth model with a soft core which has small rigidity. Frequencies of toroidal oscillations shift slightly from those of a model with a fluid core (zero rigidity). Also, new modes may appear around an existing mode of the fluid core model, and the spectrum appears to be split. The frequency shift and the width of the splitting are approximately proportional to the S-wave velocity at the top of the core.
