Galileo data for magma temperature at Pele and HST chemical data (SO2,
S2, and SO) for Pele plumes were used to evaluate vent pressure (10-4 -
2 bar), the oxidation state (2-3 log fO2 units below Ni-NiO), and
chemistry of volcanic gases.
