A general survey of space programs is provided, taking into account space activities of the U.S., the Soviet Union, Europe, Japan, and India. Plans to utilize the space environment for novel manufacturing processes and for a solution of the energy crisis are considered. Launch vehicle developments in the Soviet Union, the U.S., European countries, Japan, and India are considered together with the Space Shuttle and the Space Tug. Attention is given to unmanned earth satellites, manned earth satellites, space probes for the moon, and probes for the interplanetary space.
