Thermal radiation measurements of the Venus atmosphere from Venera 9 and 10 space vehicles are reported. The altitude of the upper cloud layer which emits the radiation received by radiometers was found to be 64 to 67 km, based on the brightness temperature obtained in the experiment by means of the available model of the Venus atmosphere. Further conclusions were reached regarding daytime and nighttime temperature.
