A particle with negligible mass is known to move along a geodesic of a background spacetime. We discuss the leading correction to the equation of motion due to the mass of the particle and its explicit derivation when the background metric is a Schwarzschild/Kerr geometry. This paper focuses on the metric perturbation only around the particle and proposes a new method to derive a finite radiation reaction force to the particle motion. An advantage of this method is that it is possible to calculate the adiabatic evolution of all kinds of bound orbits. In order to verify this method, we consider the radiation reaction to a particle in a circular orbit around a Schwarzschild black hole.
