Radiative association of H and D is re-examined taking careful account of the role played by the numerous quasi-bound states. Using the best available interaction potential and dipole moment, an enhancement by up to a factor of 70 over earlier calculations is obtained, with the largest factor occurring at a temperature of about 2000 K. Other formation processes for HD remain more important in the early universe.
