An attempt has been made to estimate the Zr content of chondrites, using an X-ray spectrographic technique, so as to resolve recent conflicting results in the literature. On the basis of eight analyses our results serve to confirm those of . Considering both practical and theoretical observations, we choose abundances of 13 ppm Zr and 0.20 ppm Hf for chondritic meteorites. The resulting Zr / Hf ratio of 65 necessitates no fractionation of these elements between the Earth and meteorites.
