The interplay of star formation and the return of nuclear processed matter by stars to the interstellar medium lies at the heart of models for the development of galactic elemental abundances. This review deals with recent developments for modeling nonlinear processes connected with stellar evolution, chemo-hydrodynamic models for the formation of stars and large scale galactic evolution, the interaction of galaxies with their companions and enveloping cluster environments, and the dispersal processes for the expelled gas.
