Cosmic Rays: Muons
Scientific paper
There is current interest in the spectroscopy of high energy cosmic ray muons which potentially provide some signatures about characteristics of Ultra High Energy interactions and of the nature of the primary particles impinging on the Earth's atmosphere. In order to study the feasibility and the actual problems of small and less expensive calorimeter type set-ups, a prototype of an electromagnetic sampling calorimeter has been built up in IFIN-HH Bucharest, for muon detection in the TeV energy range.
