An x-ray dip was observed during a 1996 Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) observation of the recurrent x-ray transient 4U 1630-47. During the dip, the 2-60 keV x-ray flux drops by a factor of three, and the spectrum softens at the lowest fluxes. We find that the x-ray dip can be explained in terms of absorption of the inner region of the accretion disk. The dip spectra and lightcurves are adequately modeled by allowing only one parameter, the column density absorbing the inner disk, to vary.
