The ozone source O2(5Pi sub g) + O2 to O3 + O is investigated. It may
remove Allen's (1986) model ozone deficiency in the lower thermosphere.
If it does, O2 (5Pi sub g) would not be the precursor to the green line
in the nightglow, which would leave O2 (C1Sigma u -) as the only
possible precursor to this line.
