Simple numerical tests based on thin sheet modelling are used to define the conductors most probably responsible for current channelling in the region including southern India. A combination of crustal conductors located in the Indo-Ceylon graben and underneath the Comorin ridge best reproduces the observations at periods of 50-100 min. In so far as channelling is concerned, daytime variations do not help to define the location of conductors any better than night-time data and may thus be ignored.
