The absorption of the negative energy flux from a Fulling-Davies (1976) mirror is discussed. It is shown that this energy is absorbed by a model detector. The mechanism of absorption is via a suppression of that excitation which would have occurred had the detector been in the vacuum. Comments are made on Davies' (1982) use of such fluxes to violate the second law of thermodynamics. Such a violation is shown to be unlikely.
