The characteristics of quasi-optical elements of a system of radiation input to a cryostat and of matching an IR receiver and telescope optics by stopping down the conic light guide, narrowing its outlet angular aperture and using a field lens (mirror) and cyclindrical light guide were examined in an approximation to geometric optics. Analytical expressions were obtained for the conic light guide beam pattern which agree well with results of machine simulation, considering radiation loss in the matching system, the angular distribution of radiation at its outlet, and the effect of the cylindrical light guide and field lens on the beam pattern. Stopping down and the field lens permit narrowing the lobes of the beam pattern almost to an ideal rectangular shape, while narrowing its outlet angular aperture with a second conic light guide permits reduction of the beam width practically without increasing loss.
