A cusp formation on topside ionograms recorded at equatorial latitudes
by means of the satellite Alouette I, has been discussed by earlier
workers1, 2. The cusps are associated with an ionisation
ledge lying along the magnetic field line passing through the peaks of
the equatorial anomaly.
