Data on X-ray and microwave-burst emissions from solar flares are reviewed. Pulsed X-ray emission spectra are interpreted with reference to energy loss of fast electrons, and two models of interaction of fast electrons with plasma. Consideration is then given to the general characteristics of microwave bursts, with particular emphasis on the absorption of such bursts. Pulsed microwave emission is interpreted with respect to pulsed X-ray emission.
