The reported investigation is concerned with the propagation of hydromagnetic planetary waves in a rotating thin shell of fluid in regions of magnetic and velocity shears. The governing equations are derived and some general results are obtained. Attention is given to ray trajectories in magnetic-velocity shear, the reflection and refraction of waves at a current-vortex sheet, and the reflection from a finite shear layer. The obtained relations are employed in the study of some specific cases.
