Low-background (beta-gamma-gamma) spectrometry was used to study the Na-22 and Al-26 radioactivity in Luna - 24 drill core samples, and the equilibrium radioactivity of these cosmogenic isotopes is calculated by an analytical method. It is shown that, during the last million years, the regollith surface layer at the Luna-24 landing site has remained practically unchanged; i.e., it has not been subject to the intense effect of any mechanical processes on the lunar surface. The mean intensity of galactic cosmic rays with a rigidity exceeding 0.5 GV remained constant (within 20 percent) during the last million years, and agreed with the present-day mean intensity of 0.24 particles/sq cm s sr. The mean spectrum of the galactic cosmic rays over the last million years agrees approximately with the mean spectrum for 1962 or 1971.
