From Fourier Transform Spectra and high-dispersion optical spectra, the authors have measured doubled absorption lines of the CO molecule and various atomic species soon after three maxima of V Cnc. The velocity difference between doubled atomic features in the optical is 17.5 km s-1, while for CO at 2.3 μm the difference is 21 km s-1. The authors have assembled and compared the data for line doubling in long-period variables over the interval in period of 150 to 450 days. There is no correlation of the amplitude of doubling with period, but there is a correlation of doubling amplitude with the light amplitude as measured at 10400 Å. The relationships between these parameters and the theory of shock waves in long-period variables is discussed.
