A comparison is made of rectangular orbital coordinates obtained by uniform rational Chebyshev and polynomial approximations in the two-body problem for different orbit eccentricities. It is shown that, for small eccentricities, the polynomial approximation is superior because the polynomial error is smaller than the rational-function error for the same number of coefficients. The motion of a Molniya satellite with an eccentricity of e = 0.75 in the course of one revolution is considered as an example.
