Preservation of the baryon asymmetry after the electroweak phase transition is, within the Standard Model, barely compatible with the most recent lower bounds on the Higgs boson mass. We show that this situation can be considerably improved by considering extensions of the Standard Model with an extra neutral gauge boson state, Z', with no further onus to the physics of the electroweak phase transition.
