The fractional convective flux is computed for the effective photosphere level 0.125 through the use of bidimensional co-spectra for relative continuum-brightness fluctuations and radial velocity fluctuations measured for the C I 5052.16 spectral line. A more uncertain flux is obtained for the Fe I 5049.83 lines. The results incorporate current uncertainties in the RMS values for relative continuum-brightness fluctuations, radial velocity fluctuations, and photospheric temperature fluctuations. A requirement for physically reasonable fractional convective fluxes in the photosphere is that the fractional convective flux be less than 1.0. This places restrictions on the above uncertainties, which suggest that the RMS values for photospheric temperature fluctuations are too large. The results tend to support the existence of a penetrative convective flux due to overshoot, which has been suggested by the prominence of granulation in photospheric photographs.
