The characteristics of QP emissions and their relationship to geomagnetic pulsations and worldwide changes are discussed. VLF data used are those obtained at Syowa Station (geomagnetic coordinate, -69.6 deg, 77.1 deg), Antarctica. Magnetograms from low latitude stations are used to examine the features of geomagnetic variations related to QP emissions. In order to observe complicated temporal characteristics of VLF emissions, VLF signals below 4 kHz have almost continuously been recorded at Syowa since 1969, using a magnetic tape recorder with an automatic reverse device. Thus it is possible to examine frequency-time spectra for most required emission events by reproduction from magnetic tapes.
