We revisit the problem of quadratic divergences in field theories from the viewpoint of the Wilsonian renormalization group (RG). The quadratic divergences can be absorbed into a position of the critical surface in the theory space, while the scaling properties of RG flows around the critical surface are determined only by the logarithmic divergences. The fine-tuning problem of a bare mass of a scalar field is now reduced to the problem of how we tune the mass parameter close to the critical surface. It has nothing to do with the position of the critical surface itself, and hence nothing with the quadratic divergences. We also consider a theory with multiple scalar fields. In this case mixings of relevant operators, i.e., mass parameters, due to the logarithmic divergences are generically inevitable and, unlike the quadratic divergences, large radiative corrections by the mixings cannot be simply subtracted.
