A particular solution is obtained for the nonlinear system of equations describing the dynamics of an inviscid gaseous shell around a slowly rotating planet with a temperature field that depends on the latitude φ as 1+δ(cos2φ-2/3). The solution represents a circulation formed by a Hadley meridional cell with superimposed atmospheric superrotation, i.e., a strong zonal current in the direction of the planet's proper rotation. The qualitative similarities between this solution and the observed atmospheric circulation of Venus are discussed.
