In the present paper, satellite (Molniia 1) data on proton fluxes at energies ranging from 31 to 92 keV, from 67 to 122 keV, and from 182 to 377 keV are used as a basis to calculate the magnetic field of a proton ring current at such energies during the moderate geomagnetic storms of January 25 and April 18, 1974. It is shown that, at such energies, the proton ring current is the principal source of the symmetric portion of geomagnetic field disturbances at low latitudes. The principal source of the asymmetric portion of the disturbances at low and mid-latitudes appear to be currents flowing along the lines of force.
