The results of two archaeoastronomical studies of Scandinavian passage graves are discussed and dismissed as not convincing. It is suggested that passage graves, as well as other ancient monuments, are simply oriented towards one of the four cardinal points, although the concept of the cardinal points was not the same as it is now. Finally, the four main problems of archaeoastronomy are discussed: realism, non-astronomical alternatives, statistical tests and the multitude of celestial phenomena.
