A new high accuracy approximation to Chandrasekhar's H-function for conservative isotropic scattering is derived by expanding H(x) into shifted Legendre polynomials and then substituting this expansion into the integral equation for the H-function. The approximation of degree three for the conservative isotropic case is given explicitly, where all four coefficients can be expressed in closed form. Comparison with previous approximations is presented.
