The power radiated by an optically thin low-density plasma in steady state ionization balance is calculated taking into account spectral lines, recombination continuum and bremsstrahlung. Calculations were performed in the temperature range 10 to the 4th to 10 to the 10th K for all ions of carbon, oxygen, silicon and argon and for all ions of iron and molybdenum of charge greater than 7 and 23, respectively. The role of impurity radiation loss for a D-T power-producing plasma is investigated and a composite calculation of the radiated power loss from the solar atmosphere is also presented.
