It is shown that the ultrarelativistic component of the metagalactic medium is dominant in the dynamics of the general cosmological expansion not only under conditions when it exceeds the matter density but also at a much later epoch. This in turn determines the specific development of the gravitational instability in the transitional epoch. The evolution of entropy perturbations in the transitional epoch following recombination, when the gravitational influence of the ultrarelativistic component of the medium is still important, is analyzed.
