A new line-by-line algorithm for radiative excitation in infrared bands in a nonlocal thermodynamic equilibrium planetary atmosphere is described. A predictive model for the terrestrial CO2 15-microns emission that incorporates this generic algorithm is developed. The model is validated by comparing its results with emission spectra obtained in a limb-scanning rocket experiment.
