The Galactic supernova remnant RCW 103 contains a central object that appears to be a member of the class of radio silent neutron stars. ASCA observations show that it has a temperature that could be as high as 7 million degrees, making it the hottest surface seen so far. The data from ASCA are difficult to interpret unambiguously, however, because the neutron star is not well separated from the diffuse emission. This ACIS observation will clearly resolve the neutron star and determine its surface temperature.
